HealthVote

HealthVote.org, a joint project of CGS and the California HealthCare Foundation, provides the public and media with frequently updated information and impartial analysis about health care-related measures on the California ballot, including campaign finance data, television advertising, nonpartisan background articles, poll results, the latest news and an overview and analysis of California's ballot measure process.

In addition to tracking the current election cycle, HealthVote.org follows the progress of health propositions approved by voters since 2004, including Prop. 61 (Children's Hospitals Bonds), Prop. 63 (Mental Health) and Prop. 71 (Stem Cell Research).

Current Status

Since September 2004, the California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) and the Center for Governmental Studies (CGS) have worked together to create a nonpartisan resource that voters and the media can use to track and evaluate health care-related ballot measures in California.

Propositions affecting health care have appeared often in recent California elections. In the last three years alone, voters have made decisions about tobacco taxes, children's hospitals, mental health care, prescription drugs, emergency services, parental notification, stem cell research and health insurance. With so many important decisions on the ballot, CGS and CHCF seek to clarify the issues.
